It gives me immense pleasure to put down a few words about Mr. K.P. Pathak, whom I met for the first time in Kathmandu, as one of the resource persons to conduct a workshop for the Film Directors’ Guild of Nepal, and I spent nearly ten days in his company as well as other young filmmakers of Nepal.
Offering a traditional welcome to me in their office, K.P. Pathak at President of the Guild, with sweets, in no time it was evident that he was the force behind the Guild, and has evolved innovative methods like the workshop on filmmaking, to bring together serious filmmakers of his country, apart from exposing them to international filmmakers of repute, and talking about films for a week was an exhilarating experience, which I could savour only because of Mr. Pathak. Pathak himself is a director of many Nepali films, and presently he is also handling tourism, by floating a tourist facilitation centre and working for exposing the brilliant culture of Nepal to the world.
While continuing to work on films, he is foraying into other adventures like tourism, which
augurs well for the Film Industry, as his outfit can become a one-stop facility to filmmakers not only in Nepal but from outside as well, to help them the mountains of Nepal, and capture the culture of the country in its myriad forms.
Ever since I met him and his colleagues in Kathmandu, I am keeping in touch with this
wonderful person, and am thrilled to know the strides he is taking. I wish him all the best, while.
Looking forward to visit him at Kathmandu or in India once again.
